The YWCA in Plymouth reports that "The Glynnis Kingham Centre is going from strength to strength - sometimes there are more young people wanting to join than we can cope with. The Ten Tors teams done well, two teams at 35 miles, two teams at 45 miles and one at 55 miles - all completed their respective routes.
The Duke of Edinburgh's Award still attracts a lot of young people at all three levels - our Award for this report year are Bronze 15, Silver 12 and Gold 6. We were able to take a group to Scotland to do sailing on Loch Lomond, there theme was the Vikings - dressed up like Vikings ate like Vikings all had a good and enjoyable time. We have had several camps and activities weekends.
New work has begun at the Y; we have now two outreach workers who will be working in the Stonehouse area working on the streets with girls. We have also at the commencement of working at Stoke Dameral Community College and we are looking into working at Plymouth Foyer and networking with groups across the city. We are in the process of applying for an Adventure Activities Licence so we can work with young people who are not members of the YW, in Adventure Training.
My thanks must go to all the volunteers who help out at the Y, their dedication to the Young people and work and all the support they give to me over the years."
